    "content": " Hon. Speaker, I also stand to support this Petition on account that universities form the base upon which we develop serious leaders. If you look at many of the leaders that we have, they emanated from our various universities. They held various responsibilities. I recollect that one of my leaders when I was in the University of Nairobi was Hon. ole Kenta. During that time, we were participating in electing leaders. Therefore, we should open up the democratic space in our universities. As one of the speakers has said, it is imprudent and unreasonable to restrict elections to those who have cleared paying school fees. Those are some of the issues that should be discarded. They should not be allowed. We should have all students participating in the election of their leaders. Hon. Speaker, even in primary and secondary schools, just like in the national elections, we have increased democratic space. The same should not be stifled when it comes to elections in higher institutions of learning like universities. I support the Petition."
