Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 33(1), I rise to seek leave for the adjournment of the House to discuss a definite matter of urgent national importance regarding ravaging drought situation in most parts of the country. The performance of both the 2020 short rains and the 2021 long rains has been poor across country, resulting into a severe drought among the arid and semi-arid counties of Turkana, Kilifi, Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Kwale, Marsabit, Kitui, Baringo, Makueni, Isiolo, Tana River, West Pokot, Samburu, Meru, Laikipia, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Nyeri and Narok.
