"content": "Kenya, by dint of the Constitution, is bound by international conventions. International convention is about freedom of professional practice. So, doctors are governed and regulated by peer regulations. They must regulate themselves. All over, all literature suggests that when professionals regulate themselves, there is better value because they are the professionals and they want to make things much better for their professions. Any time world over when Government has had to intrude into such management of internal organisations, they fail. Think of a situation that maybe the Attorney-General or the Solicitor General or somebody wants to regulate how the Law Society of Kenya must function including who and who not to give practising certificates in the legal fraternity. We hold no brief for being professionals. We are because that is what God made us to be but allow Kenyans to get best services from professionals. If they want to rein in and I know they have reined in… In fact, I have seen a Bill which has been published targeting lawyers.
