"content": "unfortunately, the Government has now purportedly taken over the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC). However, it cannot take over KPLC, which is a listed company in the Stock Exchange. Hon. Speaker, I want to ask you to direct the Committee to give a status report to inform us if they are taking too long. The House cannot act in vain. The Committee has called all the IPPs and it is very good that the Executive seems to be trying to fix the problem. However, the elephant in the room in this matter is: The disclosure of the owners of those IPPs. Two, since the IPPs began, each one gets close to Kshs200 million per month. One company called Rabai Power Plant received in the Financial Year 2019/2020, Kshs2.4 billion for not supplying power. Hon. Speaker, this is a matter of great national importance. We need to tell the Departmental Committee on Energy that every time we raise a matter here, the Executive rushes to sanitise the problem. Therefore, I really want you to ask the Committee to give us a status report of that inquiry which is now over two months old."
