"content": "Allow me to also go to the Minority Party in a small way. Hon. Pavel Oimeke is being appointed to the Departmental Committee on Energy. We had a sitting yesterday and you remember that the matter was raised by the Leader of the Minority Party. One of the arguments that was advanced by many Members from the Minority Party was that the Member for Saku could not table a petition in the House and then seek to amend it. The issue of conflict of interest was very well-articulated in the House. We must now throw it back to the Leader of the Minority Party and the Minority Party. Before his election as a Member of Parliament, Hon Pavel Oimeke served in the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority or a similar body within the energy sector. That is the body in charge of regulating the pricing structure of petroleum products within the energy sector. He also has an active case in court, which I do not want to dwell on. We must ask ourselves the question: Having served within the energy sector, would Hon. Pavel Oimeke be the most perfect person to oversee the same sector? Will there not be a conflict of interest in having him sit on the Departmental Committee on Energy? I am just throwing this out there to jog our minds."
