There was another prayer on the issue of strategic reserves. As we listened to the ministries and the Kenya Pipeline Corporation, we were told that this country only has reserves enough to carry us for seven days. If something were to happen, God forbid, this country would run out of fuel in seven days. Therefore, the Committee proposes that this should be immediately taken up by the Departmental Committee on Energy. I am sure they are dealing with the issue of reserves. There are regulations that are awaiting gazettement. The regulations on strategic reserves should be gazetted. The issue of storage capacity should be looked at, so that we can have a reserve of 30 to 60 days. In case of a global pandemic like the one we have experienced, we will be able to survive. The Committee Members looked at this matter, not just as legislators, but as representatives of the people. The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning struck a balance.
