"content": "Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me an opportunity and dispensation. My Statement was number five, but on my request, you have kindly agreed to give me an opportunity. I rise pursuant to Standing Order 48 (1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the security of students of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) while in and around the university in Kakamega Town. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Explain the circumstances leading to the brutal murder of a student of Civil Engineering, the late Mr. Jonathan Telewa Wainganga, son of Mr. Michael Telewa and Mrs. Mispah Telewa, a student of MMUST who was killed while on a walk with his student colleagues at Kakamega Forest at 10.00 a.m. (2) Inform the Senate on progress made on investigations, stating whether any suspect has been arrested in relation to the murder and arraigned in any court of law and the charges there preferred."
