"content": "Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for this chance to also present my thoughts on this important Report by our Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, one of the very active committees in this House. I must commend them for diligently undertaking their work and ensuring that they always furnish this House with reports and documentation that supports the work they have been doing every time. I wish we were all equally as diligent. Parliament works through its committees. When a committee has the right leadership, these are the kinds of issues you respond to. I must say this because it is the truth of the matter. If you look at many of the issues that we struggle with as a country, it falls back to the leadership of the committees in Parliament. That applies to both Houses; the National Assembly and the Senate. If you have a proactive leadership, chances are that they will find a way of wiggling through the challenges of modern day politics. We all understand that sometimes you try to push a certain agenda and begin to get calls from here and there. If you have a committee with the right leadership in place, then you will know the issues and not compromise your values. You will stand firm and ensure that at least you will be remembered for something. This is a challenge to the rest of us in the committees that we belong to."
