    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker Sir. I wish to support the Statement from Sen. Nyamunga. She has touched a very important category of people who already, by the nature of their disease, have been disadvantaged. We have many people with sickle cell anemia and they cannot be 100 per cent productive. It is a struggle. It is very expensive as well. So, if there is a way they can be covered so that they can be taken care of and lighten their burden, then this is definitely the way to go. The way to see it, is that we save in terms of economic development for our country, educational development and all sorts of development which are very critical. It is important that the Committee that will be handling this looks at all the parameters that make it difficult for various people to join such programmes. I know that we are not yet at a place where we have a safety net for all Kenyans in terms of their specificities of the diseases or the disadvantages that they have. Indeed, our social protection program has not been as developed as other countries. This is the direction to go and this is one step in that direction."
