"content": "Once this Bill is approved by this House, Kenyan retirees will start to sing the National Anthem with a new meaning. The National Anthem is a prayer but Kenyans who have retired no longer enjoy the benefits contained in that song because of delays occasioned by pension scheme trustees in releasing lump sum pension. I ask the Members of this House to approve this Bill. There is none of us in this House who has never come across a suffering Kenyan who is chasing after his or her pension to no avail. The reason why this House exists is to make life easy for Kenyans. Part of our role entails mitigating some of the grey areas in our laws such as having Kenyans access their pension within 90 days after retirement. There is nothing that is hard. There is no magic that will be applied by pension scheme trustees to ensure that they get this money. It is just a matter of proper planning. They need to know how many of their members are retiring within a given year The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
