Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move: THAT, clause 2 of the Bill be amended by deleting the definition of “gamete” and substituting therefor the following new definition— “gametes” means a mature sperm or egg capable of fusing with a gamete of the opposite sex to produce the fertilised egg. This basically clarifies that we are talking of a mature sperm or egg capable of fusing with a gamete of the opposite sex to produce a fertilised egg. It is critical. You cannot do anything else. This amendment makes the Bill clearer and succinct."
