Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move: THAT, by deleting the definition of “primitive” and substituting therefor the following new definition— “Primitive streak” means an embryo that develops in the early stages of human reproduction, that is to be taken to have appeared in any embryo not later than the end of the period of fourteen days beginning with the day when the gametes are mixed, not counting any time during which the embryo is stored and the presence of which signifies the creation of a unique human being; This is the actual earliest part of a growth of an embryo, and it has to be clearly defined because in assisted technology, there may be danger of people trying to manipulate this at certain stages so that if this is clearly defined, then that is protective."
