"content": "(4) Kericho County Government expressed that they are willing and committed to review ECD teachers’ remuneration. I think it is the presence of the Senators I had; very powerful Senators like Sen. Shiyonga and Sen. (Dr.) Milgo. The governor just had to melt and accepted to give them a pay rise in our presence. The ECDE teachers thank you, Sen. Shiyonga. Those teachers shall forever remember you. Their pay went up by more than Kshs10,000. Sen. Cheruiyot will remind me. They were 1,019 teachers who were not in the system and they agreed to in cooperate them. The County is reviewing its budget to bring a supplementary budget to sort out those teachers in Kericho County. I am grateful that we went to Kericho. Senators you must be proud that when the Senate goes somewhere it is not in vain. We actually get things done. They committed to implement the existing scheme of service because it is a draft, but we as a Senate, have a role to play and this comes in our recommendations. To address the above, which is part of workers’ woes especially by county government staff across the country, because the specific Kericho County issue was sorted out there. They have been put in the payroll officially. They will get their contracts and they have gotten a pay rise. So you need to clap for yourselves."
