Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move: THAT, Clause 3 of the Bill be amended by deleting paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting therefor the following new paragraphs─ (a) the establishment of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute; (b) the recognition of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute as a body responsible for carrying out industrial research, development, technology and innovation; (c) the establishment of internationally recognised industrial research infrastructure; and (d) promotion of research, technology, innovation and incubation to facilitate industrial development. The justification for this amendment is to establish and outline the purpose of the Bill, which is the establishment of Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) and giving it mandate."
