"content": "We have also looked at the history of this country. Let us go back to the late 1990s when the National Development Party (NDP) merged with the Kenya African National Union (KANU). When they could not make a decision, they imploded. In 2002, the Democratic Party, the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy-Kenya (FORD-K) and the National Party of Kenya (NPK) came together under the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC). It was not possible to register a coalition and hence we adopted one of the parties – NPK – to change its name. Immediately the parties got into power, NARC was reclaimed by its owner. All of a sudden, the entire Government was at the behest of one of the party owners."
