    "content": "Hon. Senators, virtually all other Senators who have spoken to the matter have sought the same assurance. Those who have spoken to the matter include the Minority Leader, Sen. Orengo, Sen. Wambua, Sen. M. Kajwang’, Sen. Cherargei, Sen. Halake, Sen. Wamatangi, Sen. Wetangula, Sen. Poghisio and lastly, Sen. Omogeni. Hon. Senators, I would like to echo the words of Sen. Orengo, the Minority Leader on this matter; that the Constitution and the Standing Orders are very clear. The courts have also ruled on this matter. There is also precedence and practices, which guide this Senate. I would like to assure this House that there is no intention to depart from the Constitution, the laws and the Standing Orders. The Senate and the country can be assured of this. Hon. Senators, for now, I urge you to note that pursuant to Standing Order No.141, this Bill having been read a first time, stands committed to the relevant committee in this case, the Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee for processing in the usual manner."
