"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, my point here is that we need to fund the Ministry of Tourism, particularly the marketing arm heavily. That is where the image of this country is all about. This is what will bring more tourists and revenue for the country. I have written to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. I have given him details of the challenges. I believe if they invest Kshs2 billion annually, uninterrupted for three years, our marketing strategies will be effective and even win from our competitors. I want also thank him for reducing the visa fees of visitors coming to this country from $50 to $25. That brought an immediate turn around of visitors to Kenya. Our competitors like South Africa; they hardly charge a single penny to foreign and source market that we are competing with. Egypt charges $20 and the Caribbeanâs charge $20. So, $25 is appropriate rather than our people lobbying for it to be increased."
