Deputy Speaker, I rise to present a Petition regarding refusal by the TSC to acknowledge undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate qualifications attained by in-service teachers from recognised institutions and universities. I, the UNDERSIGNED, on behalf of concerned teachers, draw the attention of the House to the following: THAT, the Government of Kenya is committed to ensuring the policy of objectives for teacher education are aligned to meet aspirations of the Constitution, Kenya’s Vision 2030 and UNESCO’s Education 2030 Agenda espoused in Sustainable Development Goal No.4; THAT, Section 35 (2) (a) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, 2012 emphasises the need for the Commission to require every registered teacher to undertake career progression and professional development programmes; THAT, in recognition that continuous professional development of teachers is important in updating and development of the competences of the teaching staff through acquisition of new The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
