    "content": "As it is, the Bill has no provision for appointment of a guardian under customary law. This new provision will facilitate appointment of a relative or relatives of a child as guardians through customary practice. This will ensure that the customary guardianship currently practised in communities, though not formal, is recognized and formalized. The provision will also ensure protection of children under customary guardianship in order to enhance monitoring of the welfare of children under guardianship. Further, it will make it easy for relatives to be appointed as guardians of children who are currently under informal guardianship and ensure that a child is brought up within the culture, customs and traditions of their community."
