I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works the following Question: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the circumstances under which the contractor for the Ibokolo-Shianda-Malaha-Nambacha Road (C784) in Mumias East Sub County abandoned the construction of the road since June, 2021, which has been worsened by the rainy season leaving it unmotorable? (ii) What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that the said road is made passable during the rainy season considering its importance in boosting transport network and improving the economy of the region? (iii) Could the Cabinet Secretary state the measures the Ministry has put in place to ensure that the construction of the said road resumes as soon as possible and that the project is completed, and state the revised completion timeline?
