Senators, I wish to report to the Senate that pursuant to Standing Order Nos. 41(3) and (4), I received the following Message from the Speaker of the National Assembly regarding the passage of the Elections Amendment Bill (National Assembly Bill no. 3 of 2022). The Message, which is dated Thursday 21st April, 2022 was received on 21st April, 2022 while the Senate was on recess. Pursuant to the said Standing Order, I now report the Message that Pursuant to the provision of Standing Order Nos.41 (1) and 142 of the National Assembly Standing Orders, I hereby convey the following Message from the National Assembly. “Whereas, the Elections Amendment Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 3 of 2022) was published vide Gazette Supplement No. 12 of 28th April, 2022 as a Bill concerning county governments in terms of Article 110(1) of the Constitution seeking to amend the Elections Act and whereas, the National Assembly passed the said Bill on Wednesday 13th April, 2022 with amendments in the form attached hereto. Now therefore, with the provisions of the Article 110 of the Constitution and Standing Order Nos. 41(1) and 144 of the National Assembly Standing Orders, I hereby convey the said decision of the National Assembly to the Senate”."
