"content": "I am just taking a little bite on this ongoing debate. Let me predict something; the next President is going to secure a five year term, depending on what he does in the first one year. In the next one and a half years, he can secure his second term. However, if you have a relationship where there is dysfunction, that President fails the moment you he is sworn-in. Kenyans do not have space for that. People are actually suffering in this country. When I walk out there, there is suffering. Not out of the fault of the Government, the COVID-19 pandemic and now with Ukraine, there are many problems out there. Many things like building the Expressway, have been done, but are we going to be able to pay for it, amidst the rise in the cost of living and fuel prices? I know who the next President is going to be. I can see Sen. Mwaura smiling because he knows what I know and he knows it is true. From that very first month, things will happen. A good example is when President Kibaki’s National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) Government came to power. My friend Sen. Wetangula was there and the very first month, things were happening. The public had confidence and Kenyans were the happiest people under the sun because the Government was performing from the very first day of taking authority in the land. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I hope that President Kibaki leaves us with a sense of goodwill in the nation. I hope that we will have peaceful elections and learn from his very rich legacy what we can do to turn this country around. That is not to say that he did not have his faults. I had many differences with President Kibaki when we were sitting on the opposite sides of the House, but he enjoyed a good debate.
