"content": "Kenya has a wealth of mineral deposits. From the Financial Year 2016/2017 and 2019/2020, the Government collected a total of Ksh5.5 billion in royalties from extractive activities. This amount translates to an average of Ksh1.4 billion annually. Although mineral royalties are currently being received from 15 counties, 91 per cent of the payments are derived from extractive activities in only three counties, namely Kilifi, Kwale and Kajiado."
