"content": "I agree with those who have said that it is, indeed, time for us, not only because of the many people or the large population that has to rely on this medicine, but because of certain realities about this country. Firstly, more than 60 per cent of our people are poor and live below the poverty line. It is virtually impossible for them to afford the medical treatment that is availed in our hospitals in spite of the fact that we are making a lot of progress with regard to ensuring that our hospitals and dispensaries have medicines and doctors. You know the difficulties that we are facing in terms of having adequate nurses and doctors, but also even in terms of having adequate medicine to support the majority of the people in this country who are in need of medical care."
