In the first eight months, Saudi Arabia was the second highest foreign exchange earner according to CBK. The United Kingdom was leading with remittances totalling to Kshs225.4 billion. Saudi Arabia was second with Kshs22.65 billion followed by the United States of America (USA). Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you must have seen Kenyans saying in the social media that they normally send messages to the ladies who remain behind promising them that they would be married this December. However, they are only remitting Kshs188.8 billion. It looks like the ladies who are being sent money from America are not “eating fare”. When you look at those statistics from number one to three, you can see this Gulf nation continuing to be a fertile ground for revenue into this country.
