"content": " Thank you, Hon Speaker. In the year 2007, we picked up 87 bodies from the post-election violence. We also had a list of all those people who suffered, not only through loss of life, but also through loss of business. The compensation request had been put through and we have been waiting and waiting. It appears like the Government has a different criterion for compensation when it comes to Nyanza, especially Kisumu area. I support the Petition that Kisumu victims of post-election violence of both 2007 and later years be compensated. For those who lost their lives, their families should also be compensated. This has gone on long enough and it is one of those tragedies like the Wagalla Massacre. We had a massacre in Kisumu. We know that 87 people were killed. We must have peace. I know that money cannot buy peace, but money can help the families that are suffering from dire poverty."
