Deputy Speaker, we promised both in the majority and minority leadership that immediately after elections, we would have an opportunity to deal with Members placement in committees, especially those who found themselves not placed in any committee. There are a number of Members like Hon. Samwel Moroto from the majority side who I remember was placed in one Departmental Committee and was not placed in a Select Committee. There are other Members in Departmental Committees and are not placed in Select Committees. A few were in Select Committees without being in Departmental Committees. As we promised, we have endeavoured to ensure we place Members in at least a Departmental Committee subject to availability of slots in both coalitions. I beg Members to understand that the number of slots available in Departmental Committees across the political divide are limited. Therefore, you might find yourself in the minority missing out in a Departmental Committee but hopefully you are in a very influential Select Committee. Members do not want Select Committees because the applications we received were for what they consider as influential Select Committees."
