Temporary Speaker, there was a big drive by the Deputy President who has now ascended to the Presidency, to construct Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions (TVETs) in our constituencies. They churn out graduates who find themselves like a deer in the headlights, when they land in the market and realise that despite being equipped with necessary training, they are unable to practise because they are limited by their skills and lack of tools. If we expand the mandate of the National Government – Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) to cover skills training and tools provision, then we would have a ready industry for the graduates who come out of TVETs."
