"content": "Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Senator Waziri Murkomen, I congratulate you for your new appointment following the approval by the National Assembly today. I know you will find your in-tray full, but we have no doubt that you are up to the task because we have been working with you since we had the United Republican Party (URP) until now. You are a humble and extremely respectful and approachable leader. As I stand here, I have no doubt that you will provide impartial leadership devoid of any political partisan or fears. When we had the issue of revenue sharing formula, your county was going to gain, but you stood with us firmly. Even though your county was going to gain, in the principle of equity, you stood with the rest of the counties that were going to lose to make sure that no county was going to lose and that all counties could only gain. As you prepare to start your new responsibilities as the CS for Roads and Transport, like our colleagues have said, I would like to remind about many roads. One lifeline road that we have in our region, the most transformative investment of the Government of Kenya for the people of Northern Kenya, is one of Africa’s’ gateway projects that has been negotiated. The programmes are at advanced stage. It is a low hanging fruit. Please pick it up and run with it."
