    "content": "Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the drought situation in the country is a serious problem that needs urgent intervention. I would like to make the following recommendations. Coming from a county that is one of Kenya’s food baskets, the North Rift is approaching a harvesting season. The Government should take advantage of the food available within the country and ensure that the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) purchases maize from the farmers. That will not only assist the Government to have strategic food reserves, which can be taken to drought-stricken areas, but also ensure price stability for the sake of farmers who produced food at a very high cost this year.
