The cumulative impact of four consecutive poor rainy seasons has caused ravaging drought and hunger to rapidly rise in the country, especially in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs). This has resulted in estimated 3.5 million people experiencing acute food insecurity and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. A fifth consecutive poor rainy season will be disastrous."
