He says, in his answer, that hardship allowance is worked out at the rate of 30 per cent of one’s basic salary. However, officers in the Police Force receive a maximum of Kshs600 for single officers and Kshs1,200 for married officers. Clearly, Kshs600 is less than 30 per cent of a police officer’s basic salary. So, what happens to the balance?"
