There are two theories that compete in our market place; one is the view that we should let the market forces determine the prices of our goods. This is very attractive. The others say that the market forces are not necessarily in the interest of the majority of our people and, therefore, there is need for intervention in the market place so that our people can survive. It is very important that when we are talking of essential goods, we are talking about food and may be drugs."
