"content": "Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, if we were to look at the objects of this Bill; the objects of the Bill are: (i) To repeal the Restrictive Trade Practices, Monopolies and Prices Control Act of Cap.504 of the Laws of Kenya. (ii) To provide for the establishment of an effective regulatory framework both legal and institutional, premised on best international practices, while respecting our own nationâs needs for the regulation of competition and liberalized market. (iii) The Bill provides consumer protection which I have elaborated quite a little. So, this Bill will, in effect, bring force by establishment of an authority that will be monitoring and evaluating the market players and looking at who the dominant players are and ensuring that they are well regulated and ensuring that they are practicing the best practices and not taking advantage of either the market or the consumers and thus protecting every single citizen.
