"content": "However, subsidising production through fertiliser subsidy is clear because we heard Kenyans being told to register. One was required to say how many acres of land he or she was going to farm and then one would get the fertilisers at that affordable rate. Again, when we buy maize from the farmers at a lower rate, the farmer would be willing to take a lower cost for his or her maize because his or her cost of production was down. In the whole cost of the price of products, we must not forget the person producing them. I heard someone complain about the rise in the cost of eggs. As a chicken farmer, I am happy because when the cost of eggs goes up, I get a higher return for my money. If you want me to reduce the price of eggs, you have to subsidise the cost of the feeds that I buy to produce the eggs."
