    "content": " Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. My Ministry, through the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board, is implementing the short-term action plan for rehabilitation of the water facilities in Kisumu City. The works being undertaken include construction of a new treatment plant of 24,000 cubic meter a day capacity and rehabilitation of 17 kilometres distribution network at a total cost of Ksh175 million. The short-term measure will be completed by December, 2009, and hence ease the water problems in Kisumu City. Plans are at advanced stage by my Ministry to implement the long-term action plan; which include construction of intake works at “Kajuju” River. Forty eight thousand cubic meters a day capacity treatment plants, storage and distribution network and capacity building of staff for Kisumu City Water and Sewerage Company."
