"content": " Hon. Temporary Speaker, we are now chartering uncharted waters. Our courts should not legislate while interpreting the law. On the issue of LGBTQIA+, the decision by the majority of the Judges of the Supreme Court was in bad light. It did not respect our religions, African tradition and culture. For that reason, we oppose that ruling. That ruling needs a judicial review. I believe that the Constitution can be amended directly by this House or through a referendum. For Articles that do not require a referendum, an amendment proposal must garner two-thirds support of all the Members of this House. We really need to look at this issue. In that case, this House should come up with an amendment to make it as clear as daylight that we do not support the issue of LGBTQIA+ in our laws. We need to revisit this matter and come out clearly. Over the weekend, when we were addressing a church congregation, we made it clear that, as Parliament, we shall stand firm as we look at all options.
