Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise, pursuant to Standing Order 53 (1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations on the issue of remuneration of Village Elders/ Nyumba Kumi officials. In the Statement, the Committee should - (1) State the total number of Village Elders/ Nyumba Kumi officials currently being engaged by the Government and explain the terms of service of the said officials. (2) State the amount set aside in the national budgetary allocation for remuneration of the Village Elders/ Nyumba Kumi officials to be provided to the House. (3) State the mode of payment considered by the National Government to be the best for disbursement of remuneration to these officials of Nyumba Kumi and village elders /officials.
