    "content": "Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.56 (1) (a), which provides that a Chairperson of a committee may make a Statement relating to a legislative business before the committee. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1), at the sitting of the Senate held on Thursday, 27th October, 2022, Sen. Alexander Mundigi, Senator for Embu, requested for a statement from the Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing, regarding the adverse effect of the collapse of the Ena River Bridge in Embu County. In the Statement, the Committee was requested among others to- (1) Inquire and state why the relevant Government Department took long to assess the safety of the Ena Bridge for used by both motor vehicles and members of the public ahead of its collapse."
