"content": " Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to thank the Chairperson of the Regional Integration Committee for bringing this Statement. Africa has been here far too many times. Whenever this happens, two things happen. One, the international community - especially beyond Africa - take advantage of such a flare- up to put their foot in Africa and exacerbate the situation further. Two, Africa can step up and prove that it can resolve its own issues. This is a great opportunity for us to take advantage of the second scenario. Kenya has an advantage by first being geographically close to Sudan. Secondly, historically, Kenya has been known as a mediator. The Kenyan Government needs to step up and lead the mediation efforts so that we can mobilise the regional and continental bodies and the African Union. For the first time, Africa can resolve its own issues without involving the people who have traditionally benefited from such conflicts, especially our friends from the West and the far East. They have always taken advantage of such conflicts to rip the resources in this continent. The Kenyan Government needs to step up and save the lives of the Kenyans who are in Sudan. This is possible because we have no other business…"
