    "content": " I appreciate you, Hon. Temporary Speaker and thank you for giving me this opportunity to add my voice and the voice of the great people of Rangwe Constituency on this matter. Allow me to empathise with the families that have lost their loved ones. From the reports that we are getting from the media, it is not only one tribe that is affected. There was a case of somebody from Kisumu who went for holy water and fasting. There was also somebody from Kajiado who went for fasting and prayer. It actually cuts across the country. So, this is not a Kilifi matter; it is a matter of national concern. Our progressive Constitution of 2010 provides for freedom of religion. You choose where you want to worship and what you want to worship to the extent that it helps and benefits you. Article 8 of the Constitution provides that there will be no State religion. There is nothing that Kenya sticks to as its own State religion. That adds to the fact that there is freedom of worship. You choose what you want to worship. Article 53(d) of the Constitution recognises the right of all children to be protected from abuse, neglect and harmful cultural practices. On this matter, school-going children have been subjected to abuse. Article 29(f) of the Constitution provides that every person has the right to freedom and security, which includes the right not to be treated or punished in a cruel, inhumane or degrading manner. Religion gives a platform for worship and people to socialise. If you go to church, you can meet friends and while there, you can socialise.
