"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources, on the state of boreholes in Marsabit County. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) State the number and location of all boreholes in Marsabit County, providing information on whether they are public or private and whether they have fluoride filtration process. (2) Indicate the criteria used to identify boreholes for commissioning, stating the requirements and tests conducted. (3) State the measures being taken by the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation to curb the high levels of fluoride in water from boreholes in the area, responsible for cases of dental fluorosis among residents of Nuite in Lake Turkana, Elebor, Anambalo in Sololo among other places. (4) Disclose the number of boreholes with water declared unfit for human consumption, ascertaining that water from such water boreholes is not illegally being distributed for use by unsuspecting residents.
