    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Health regarding the actions being taken by the Ministry of Health to make cancer treatment accessible and affordable in Kenya. In the Statement, the committee should- (1) State the plans the Ministry of Health has made to declare cancer a national disaster in Kenya and allocate sufficient budgetary resources to support cancer awareness, diagnosis and treatment initiatives. (2) Explain interventions that the Ministry of Health has put in place, if any, to subsidize the cost of cancer care and treatment. (3) State actions that have been taken by the Council of Governors (CoG) to prioritize the establishment and equipping of cancer diagnosis and treatment centres in every county to enhance accessibility to these essential services. (4) Explain measures taken by the CoG aimed at increasing budgetary allocation towards cancer awareness among populations and clinicians in each county in order to achieve early diagnosis and improved treatment outcomes.
