    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker, for this opportunity. Before I begin my presentation on education, I thank the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee and the entire Committee for a job well done. The Budget and Appropriations Committee has a big task of ensuring that taxes raised by the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning of the National Assembly are well utilised and equitably distributed across the country and various sectors. The sector that has taken a huge chunk of that money is the Department of Education and Training. In the 2023/2024 Budget, the Department has been allocated Ksh628 billion, which accounts for 27 per cent of the total national Government Budget. This points to the fact that the current Government has placed great importance on the education sector in recognition of the central role it plays in supporting the socio-economic development agenda."
