"content": " Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to reply. (a) I am aware that sutures worth Kshs40,300,000 imported in the year 2006 by Messrs Dol International Limited for the then Ministry of Health were not received at the Kenya Medical Suppliers Agency (KEMSA), and, therefore, could not have been dispatched to hospitals. I am not aware that they are at risk of expiring because they are not in the custody of the Ministry. (b) The Ministry is not in a position to take measures to forestall the expiry of the sutures because they are not in our custody. The Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC) is seeking prosecution of the supplier and officers of the Ministry for the manipulation of the tendering process. Responsibility for expiry, therefore, will be borne by either the Government or the supplier after the determination of the legal tussle initiated by the KACC."
