"content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. Let me use this opportunity to welcome the students from my constituency who are visiting on a tour of Nairobi and Parliament, to learn about what happens in this House because they are the leaders of tomorrow. The subject matter of today is CBC. I would like to support the Motion by the Member for Mbeere North, Hon. Ruku, that introducing JSS was a good idea. The intention of the people who formulated the CBC was to allow learners to train in their areas of expertise. We went to a school that was doing the 8-4-4 education system. Students were required to do Christian Religious Education (CRE) even if they were good in the sciences. They were forced to do every other subject, even those they did not pick. Therefore, CBC is a modern curriculum that prepares this country for Vision 2030 and enables us to progress into a modern and changing world. I want to support all that the Members have spoken before; that this thing was rushed. Many things that should have gone into the preparation did not happen. I urge the Government and the Ministry of Education to make the JSS entirely free. We do not want parents to be charged. As a matter of policy, every primary school in the Republic of Kenya must have a JSS.
