    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the second Petition. This is the one that concerns the delay in developing and launching a Victims’ Rights Charter as provided for under the Victim Protection Act No.17 of 2014. This Petition is critical because what has been happening in the criminal justice system, for those of us who has been practitioners of the law, is that a person files a complaint with the police and it is investigated for something like arson, which is destruction of property. A conviction is then obtained and the person is jailed while the victim is left with nothing. The only remedy that the victim gets is the satisfaction that The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
