"content": "(16) peace, justice and strong institutions; and (17) partnership for all the goal. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the main rallying point of the SDGs is, ‘Leave no one behind’. I am also happy to mention that the last conference and the UN SDGs was in New York from the 9th to 19th of this month. Nobody was left behind in the participation from this country. We had a multi sectorial team composed of the legislators, county governments and the representatives of the national Government. That was really impressive at the conference and all was to emphasize on what is the participation, implementation programme that each county has. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we, as the Senate, are so keen on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because a number of them talk about the mandate of the Senate. The county governments draw some of their functions from the SDGs. The report that this country presented at the Conference was impressive. However, as a country or member State, we are still not performing up to the expectations. It is upon this that I want to second this Motion by Sen. Mumma. We, as the Senate or Parliament, need to get reports on the status of the implementation of the SDGs from the national Government and county governments. We need to know our status over the years, so that we upscale our performance in the remaining seven years and meet the goals of the SDGs as spelt out. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I second this Motion."
