"content": "Worldcoin, could the Ministry provide the steps that the Government is taking to ensure control of data access, collection and storage, especially by foreign entities? 2. Who authorised the biometric collection of data by Worldcoin and were the correct procedures followed? 3. What are the safety guarantees that the Government is making to ensure that the data will be exclusively used for the intended purpose and citizens will not suffer or get any loss? 4. Has the Government established the ultimate objective of this exercise? For what purpose will the data collected be used? 5. Was there public participation to inform the public on the risks involved in the exercise? 6. What is the source of the money being paid to participants, and who stands to benefit from the exercise? I know Members who passed through the KICC, especially yesterday, saw the long line of young people who had gone to collect the Ksh7,000 that was being paid when you give your biodata. I am raising this matter as the newly elected Chairman of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association because many young people are suffering from the issue of conmanship and this country requires to step up its game on those issues. The issue of selling of data, including data on Facebook and Twitter, is serious. One’s personal data can be used to do what is called “identity theft” and cause people to lose their finances and everything. Hon. Speaker, I recognize Hon. Martha Wangari and Hon. Njeri Maina as parties to this Statement request. I wish to request you to give us some minutes. Thank you."
