"content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker, and the Member for Kinango Constituency, Hon. Gonzi Rai for the Question. My response is that there were some delays in the payments of the Inua Jamii Programme beneficiaries for a period of seven to eight months, from November 2022 to May 2023. However, in June 2023, the Government released Ksh16.7 billion for disbursement to the beneficiaries for the eight months as arrears. I know the beneficiaries happily got the money. So far, all the arrears for the last financial year have been cleared. As directed by His Excellency the President that beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii Programme be paid on time and on a monthly basis before we pay salaries, I wish to confirm that the Government has already disbursed funds for the month of July 2023. They were paid before most of us were paid. Payments commenced on 31st July 2023. Moving forward, payments will be done by the 20th of every month. On the second Question on how the Government is planning to resume fresh registration of elderly persons, I had already mentioned that during this financial year, the Government is planning to scale up the Inua Jamii Programme to cover 500,000 more beneficiaries as directed by His Excellency the President. This number will be spread across the 290 constituencies. Registration will be done by Ministry officers at county and sub-county offices, with support The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
